Fundraising Tips from Big Sister Andrea

2016 Hero Right_Michaela and Andrea

Way to go, Big Sister Andrea!

Andrea is one of our top fundraisers for Bowl for Kids Sake 2016. She knows first-hand the benefits of Big Brothers Big Sisters programs, as she has been a Big Sister to Michaela for just over 4 years. Over the years, the duo have shared many memories. Pictured above, they enjoy an ice cream cone after a private tour of Marble Slab Creamery. Andrea is committed to her friendship with Michaela. And similarly, she is committed to her fundraising efforts.

Fundraising tips from Andrea, Team Investors Group Burlington:

1) People won’t give if you don’t ask. “I’m willing to ask. I composed an email explaining my active participation as a Big Sister and why the organization is important to me and I literally sent it to EVERYONE I know.”

2) Tell people you’re involved. "Keep your friends, family, coworkers and peers in the know. “I regularly tell people about my fundraising, and ask for their support. People can’t say yes, unless you ask.”

3) Matching gift programs help to grow pledges: "Our company (Investors Group) also has a great support program called Matching Gift. For any donations made by employees of $50 or more, Investors Group will match. When asking for a donation I encourage my colleagues to contribute at least $50, so pledges are doubled! So far there is an additional $400 that will be coming from Investors Group."
