We believe in the value and values of mentoring.”

Dunnigan and Littles

TSN Personality and former Ti-Cat, Matt Dunigan, with Little Brothers Duncan and Winston at the 20th Annual Golf Classic at Crosswinds Golf and Country Club on June 19th, 2012.

June 19th was one of the hottest days of Summer 2012. Regardless of the 32.8 °C (or 91°F) scorcher, 129 golfers teed off in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington (BBBSHB). While temperatures broke records, our 20th Annual Golf Classic similarly did – over $46,000 was raised to support BBBSHB’s mentoring services.

The tournament was hosted at the picturesque Crosswinds Golf and Country Club in Burlington. Among our golfers were two very special guests: First time golfers, Duncan and Winston, two Little Brothers from our Agency, who were accompanied by Big Brothers, Steve and Frank.

Aside from the traditional ‘closest to the pin’ and ‘closest to the line,’ a hole-in-one chance to win a new car from Queenston Cheverlot or $10,000 from RBC Dominion Securities added some extra excitement to the day. Although no one walked away with a new car or a five-figure cheque, everyone left smiling.

After 18 holes, air conditioning, cold beverages and a gourmet dinner were served.

Hamilton Bulldogs Senior Director of Broadcasting, Derek Wills, was the Master of Ceremonies for the dinner component of the event. Other speakers included, Matt Dunigan, former Ti-Cat and Big Brother, who spoke on behalf of our Agency, and a question and answer session with Little Brother Duncan and Big Brother Steve. One of the highlights of the night was the live auction, in which two auctioneers took over the floor and helped us raise over $13,000.

One of the golfers said, “The enthusiasm and the number of activities is terrific. It is always well organized … the organization committee and the volunteers are fantastic – keep up the great work."

Thank you, Committee

The success of our 20th Annual Golf Classic truly could not have been possible without our dedicated committee. A special thank you goes out to Mike Abbott, Ken Jaques, Murray Lorimer, Paul Morrison, Marty Muis and Henry Svazas for all your help and support in the planning process.
