Scholarship Programs

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington is proud to offer several different scholarship opportunities for boys and girls in our agency.

Promise Scholarship Program

Deva_Zorina_Readingbook03_MRThe Promise Scholarship is awarded to 10 students in Grade 7 as a promise that if they keep up their commitment to academics, the community and themselves, we will be there to offer financial assistance when they enter post secondary school.

Unlike other scholarships (which are typically awarded at the end of high school), we offer the message of hope and promise early in a child's academic life. When a child is accepted into a post secondary institution, we advocate on the child's behalf to receive matching scholarship funds.

CIBC Youthvision

This is a nationally sponsored program between CIBC, YMCA Canada and Big Brother Big Sister agencies across Canada. 30 Grade 10 students are selected each year across Canada to receive funding to assist with the cost of tuition and fees for up to four years. In addition, the program provides a summer internship so students can earn while they learn.

Project Hope

Project Hope is the vision of a single donor to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hamilton and Burlington. Our donor's vision is to capture children in grade 10 and encourage them to be hopeful about their future.

We award up to 2 scholarships per year - keeping the money in trust until acceptance into university or college. This scholarship is awarded to students based on their commitment to home and community, their relationships with school personnel and peers as well as their financial needs. This scholarship is awarded to children wishing to pursue a career in trades.
